PU-CAD Hosts Seminar, Exhibition ‘Mian Ijazul Hassan Seven Decades of Painting’
LAHORE: Principal College of Art and Design (CAD), University of Punjab, Prof Dr Sumera Jawad held a seminar and exhibition titled: “Mian Ijazul Hassan Seven Decades of Painting” here on Friday to commemorate Hassan’s journey of excellence. The exhibition and the seminar were organized by the students of the MPhil, belonging to the 2021-23 session, as part of their research project.
The work on display is based on Hassan’s selective artwork spanning seven decades and has been specially prepared for the benefit of students and scholars. The work primarily represents his impression of the people, society, and circumstances prevailing in society.
The seminar was divided into five segments highlighting distinct facets of Hassan’s quest over the decades. These segments included his youth, his contribution as a painter, his contribution as a writer and poet, his contribution to the artistic community, and finally his contribution as a thought-provoking artist. Although the seminar was chaired by MPhil scholars, renowned artists and scholars were invited to each segment to further shed light on Hassan’s quest. They included Fakir Syed Aijazuddin, Shahnawaz Zaidi, Dr. Syed Akmal Hussain, Amna Pataudi and Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan.
The seminar ended with a souvenir distribution ceremony and a dinner.
