As one of the most popular LEGO websites in the world, with a monthly reach of millions, The Brothers Brick is a much more complex operation than many of our readers can imagine. At the same time, our readers may also be surprised that each of our team members is volunteering! If you are interested in being part of the team that supports a diverse global audience of highly engaged LEGO fans, TBB is looking for a Social Media Specialist to help support our growth and a News Contributor to cover the latest news. News contributor

A big part of the LEGO scene is being able to keep our global audience up to date with the latest news. If you have a good sense of the LEGO community, a knack for finding sources of information, and connecting with people, you might be the person we’re looking for.

We are looking for someone with the following knowledge and skills:

  • Strong writing skills
  • A thin nose to sniff LEGO News from credible sources
  • Up to date with LEGO products and the fan community
  • A team player able to collaborate with other members to share workload and responsibilities across different time zones
  • Eager to learn HTML and use WordPress (even better if you’re already familiar!)
  • Eager to learn and acquire new skills to improve the quality of outgoing news
  • Ability to maintain high confidentiality and discretion for embargoed news and other information you may learn through nondisclosure agreements between TBB and its partners, including the world’s largest toy manufacturer.
  • The level of involvement may vary from week to week depending on when media coverage is required. The likely time commitment would be several hours per week, although greater availability could produce even stronger results.

Social media specialist

In addition to the main website, TBB has a strong presence on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter and Discord with active discussions among our readers. We would like to enhance our presence and growth on each of these platforms through more consistent engagement with our readers. If you have professional background in community engagement or social media management and want to apply your skills to help support the largest community of LEGO fans on the web, we want to hear from you.

We are looking for someone with the following knowledge and skills:

  • Experience managing large-scale social media engagement (hundreds of thousands of subscribers across multiple channels, millions of monthly reach).
  • Familiarity with The Brothers Brick and the wider AFOL community.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of social media management tools and technology, with a willingness to recommend new platforms or systems to improve growth and engagement.
  • Ability to maintain high confidentiality and discretion for embargoed news and other information you may learn through nondisclosure agreements between TBB and its partners, including the world’s largest toy manufacturer.
  • This role requires daily engagement with TBB – a few minutes each time throughout the day and several hours per week for planning and operational activities.

Team TBB roles are unpaid – The Brothers Brick is run by a group of passionate volunteers who write about LEGO in their spare time. All the money the site makes from supporting our loyal readers is spent on server and bandwidth costs, purchasing products to review, timely coverage of important events, sponsorship of contests. and fan events like BrickCon and Japan Brickfest, and to help the LEGO fan community. wherever we can.

Even though both roles are volunteer positions, being a TBB contributor offers a real opportunity to participate in one of the best recreation sites in the world. If you do not have prior web writing experience, you will have the opportunity to learn or improve tangible professional skills such as web writing, headline writing, search engine optimization and social media strategy.
