August’s Featured Exhibition at Speers Gallery Announced

The Kennebunk Free Library has announced its upcoming Speers Gallery exhibition, Peace of My Mind, by Madeleine P. Hopkins, opening Monday, August 1. The exhibition is a visual memoir of his art and prose, and consists of 33 landscape paintings or prints coupled with the written word. Hopkins uses a combination of oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastel.

The public is invited to attend an artists’ reception on Wednesday, August 3 from 1 to 3 p.m. Wearing a mask is compulsory.

Hopkins was born in Philadelphia, raised in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, and moved to southern Maine in 1987. She graduated from Rhode Island School of Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration and worked as an illustrator, painter, interior decorator. , gallery owner/manager, architectural designer and she is also a self-published author.

His paintings are in several public and private collections, including Barn Gallery/Ogunquit Art Association in Ogunquit, Hole in the Wall Studioworks in Raymond, Maine, and Roux & Cyr International Gallery in Portland. Hopkins lives in southern Maine with her husband, Chris.
